With over a decade of experience behind the microphone, Derek Becker is rarely at a loss for words.
His journey into panel moderation began during his days as a podcaster when comic creators asked him if he would assist them with their panels. What started as helping friends grew into more than 12 years of great conversations on the stages here at MC3.
A fan of both comic books and pop culture, Derek loves to dive into the process of how things are made, which adds a fresh perspective on what makes our guests as exceptional as they are!
Christina Blanch
Almost every aspect of Dr. Christina Blanch’s world revolves around comic books. She writes comics such as Good Boy, The Damnation of Charlie Wormwood, Tales from the Crypt, We Eat Gods, and Mysterium among others. She also edits comic books and moderates panels at Comic Conventions across the country. Even when she is teaching, she includes comics in her courses such as Gender through Comics, an online course that once enrolled over 7000 students online.
She owns Aw Yeah Comics in Muncie, Indiana and hosts a weekly comic sales called “What We Do in the Comic Shop” which was featured in an AP article. When not at her comic shop, which is rare, she is with Jeff and their dogs or hanging with her favorites, Maverick, Malcolm, and Magnolia.
Liam Crowley
Liam Crowley is a host and producer for ScreenRant. Based in NYC, Liam leads ScreenRant's east coast events coverage, from red carpet premieres to live panels. He is the creator and host of Coffee Chats, ScreenRant's signature sit-down interview series. Liam has spent his entire adult life in entertainment media, beginning his professional career in the midst of his collegiate years. His work has been spotlighted by The TODAY Show, FOX New York, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Deadline, and dozens of others.
Prior to working in the industry, Liam was a proud fan of entertainment media itself throughout his childhood. He used to rush off the school bus in the 2010s to watch Collider Movie Talk and junket interviews from the likes of Chris Van Vliet, Kevin McCarthy, and Brandon Davis. That adolescent passion pushed Liam to pursue a degree in Broadcast & Digital Journalism, which he attained at Syracuse University, and the rest is history.
Within the panel realm specifically, Liam has moderated events for Sony Pictures, New York Comic-Con, Disney D23 Expo, and FanExpo. His alumni of guests includes Ronda Rousey, the Percy Jackson & the Olympians cast, Danny Boyle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elijah Wood. If you see the tall guy in the Jordan 1's roaming the MCCC floor, say hi!
